For this post I’m picking one outfit to highlight 7 Out of Style Fashion Trends in 2024 and what to wear instead. I’m also comparing this 2024 Winter look to Winter 2023 look, so that you can detect the updates a little easier. And more importantly, choose for yourself what to keep or update! Remember, nothing is completely OUT OF STYLE at any given time but rather how your construct the entire look.
Out of Style Fashion Trends 2024
1) Wide leg vs. Skinny Jeans
Skinny jeans and skinny trousers are back in. If we’re being honest, they’ve been creeping in. Make sure to check out my blog post on how to style skinny jeans in 2024. By the way, bonus points if they’re dark wash! However, if you are skeptical don’t fret, these don’t have to be low rise, shredded ones. 2024’s skinny jeans are more polished and can still be high rise and chic. PLUS, don’t they look chic with these boots? If you love wide leg jeans, huge slouchy jeans, wide legs and barrel jeans are all in style! The wide leg with a big chunky sole is what I’m saying feels outdated.
2. Should Pad Sweaters vs. Fair Isle Sweater
This Fair Isle sweater is wrinkled here because I just took out from storage from like 2019! It’s very apres ski, preppy, old money-ish, so we can undertand how this is back now. If you compare to the shoulder padded knit sleeve-less on the left that I wore a ton last spring, I gotta admit, it looks more polished and classic.
3. Chunky Lug Boots vs Sleek Boots

Chunky lug boots will be back, so storing mine for the moment. I love the combination of these very timeless boots with the skinny jeans. It’s nice to show off our boots and not hide them under wide pants all the time. More Inez boots I love below.
4. Puffer Coats vs Maxi Coats
As an extension of quiet luxury, wool or shearling maxi coats that sweep the floor are definitely in line for 2024 winter! Bonus points if they don’t have a collar (like this one from Abercrombie), which I’m not subscribed to yet. Gimme a sec. Puffers are a must in my upstate NY existence, so I’m not getting rid of those whatsoever. And if you love your puffers too, then keep! 5. Hoops vs Vintage Earrings
I’m a hoops girl forever, BUT for Winter 2024 fashion trends a vintage style, “unique”, not everyone has pieces are the thing! These are from @azuliquejewelry, a woman owned brand and small business I love.
6. It’s so CLUTCH
Again, clutches are feminine and lady like, so they fall into place of the classic style momentum. As a 180 though, belted bags are also HUGE in 2024. 7. Oversized vs Oval Sunglasses
Sunglasses are the ultimate finishing touch. Honestly, these come and go at such a fast rate that I questioned bringing them up here. However, oval and smaller lenses (like these) are poised to make a comeback. I’m kind of oversized glam girl here, but never say never!
