Inspirational women
Mother’s Day is one of my favorite days! I love getting to celebrate my mom, new moms in my life, and my mama tribe. Being a mom is such a strong bond with other women and I really appreciate those bonds especially as I grow older. Last night I got to go dinner with some of the mom friends that I’ve made at my son’s school and it was the best time! Who else can relate to my every day like they can? Not many people! We laughed so much swapping stories both horror and feel -good, about the little critter that call us mom. With this article you can find some awesome Mother’s Day Gifts to honor all those inspirational mamas in your life!
The Scares of being a mom
I had one instance recently where I couldn’t find my little guy Henrick. It was about 10:30 PM and I was downstairs watching TV with my husband. I got up to do the final tuck-in and when I got to their bedrooms I could NOT find Henrick. I didn’t panic initially because he is known to fall asleep under the bed, in his bedroom closet, or buries himself under ALL of his stuffed animals and passes out. Once I checked all those spots I couldn’t find him anywhere!
I raced all over the house, checking the bathtub, my room, upstairs balcony, all the bedrooms, his closet, ran back down did the same thing. Nothing! I woke Nick up who had passed out on the couch himself, and said words I’ve uttered too often: “I CAN’T FIND HENRICK”. He was too out of it to be help so I rallied. I went back up and calmed myself down and went room by room again, not leaving any closets or nooks out. Finally….I open one of the linen closets up and there he is. He was naked from the waist down, rosy and fast asleep on a comforter he dragged in there for himself . He had opened the laundry chute, probably contemplated going down it but wisely (for 3 years old), decided against it, took his pants off, sent them down the chute and fell asleep.
Learning to accept it
I was everything; relieved, scared, freaked out at the scene, laughing and crying at the same time. I wasn’t crying so much for the situation as I was for knowing deep down that this is just.the.beginning. I’m going to have these scary moments a lot, therefore embrace it. Moments where I don’t know where they are or if they are safe or happy. And I hear it just gets different hard as they grow up, so I just had to have a moment to be grateful that I get to have all these feelings. That I get to be a mom.
