Welcome to my 4th annual Dancing Mama Style Chic Coats Guide! I’m a Texan girl that got thrown into cold weather and turned lemons into lemonade by embracing the coat life! There’s nothing I love more than a cozy chic statement coat that hides my sweatpants underneath. Because I love investment items at a better price, I usually wait right around now to attack the coat rack. Here’s my picks for chic coats, many at a steal!
CHIC COATS GUIDE CATEGORIES
Classic
These classic coats are coats you’ll have forever. Timeless and elegant. Classic coats always make me feel put together and are easy to wear regardless of trends.
Teddy Coats
Teddy coats feel like you’re getting a hug! These coats are the”old pair of jeans” of coats in that you’re comfortable and familiar but yet chic AF! My favorite way to style is with leggings and skinny jeans.
Puffer Jackets
The wanna-be skier in me loves these cool puffer jackets! The fun part of wearing puffer jackets is that you can make them uber sporty or dress them up too. Many high fashion shows would use them as a way to balance being to dressed up or to give an otherwise dainty oufit an edge.
Statement Coats
These are the coats that make a statement fashion wise, for sure! However, they are also coats that you will look back at someday know exactly what you were doing, who you loved and what song was in your head when you wore them. If there’s one that speaks to you, my recommendation is to grab it! Get the one you really want, not 5 of the cheaper ones. It will last longer, you’ll be happier and will reduce waste!
Shackets
Sometimes we just need a little edge mixed with earthy vibes! The Shacket was the creation of 2020, see how to style here. Shackets remind me a bit of the 90’s grunge era, which I loved unabashedly, mixed with some lumber jack vibes. I prefer a solid colored shacket to a plaid but there’s really no getting it wrong here. After all, it was inspired by being at home all day long wearing not much else. 🙂
Chic Coats Guide Plot Twist
The bittersweet news here is that I’m relocating to Florida temporarily and will not get to wear my fabulous coats this winter. While I’ve certainly worn them for a 2-3 months already, my coat love is real and it’s one of the only things I will miss about Chicago in the dead of winter and spring! Chicago springs are pretty brutal and it’s not unusual to wear a winter coat in May!
I hope that this Chic Coats Guide inspires you to find a coat that will make your heart sing! Jan/Feb is prime time for buying coats at great price and still getting to enjoy them before the season is over.
