The 3rd man in my life, Henrick, is now 2! I celebrated with an Acrostic Poem that I made the rough draft for a year ago during a delirious, sleepy nursing morning. Here it is!
Huggy bear of mine, your embrace makes me whole
Ear to ear giggles that fill our home
Natural athlete that climbs and roams
Running into my arms is our favorite goal
Itsy bitsy in Spanish is your jam
Crooning with your brother who’s also ham.
Know you’re in my heart, my favorite dart!
I made one for Matteo also, and thought it would be a cute tradition to continue if I had more kids. It’s just a fun, ultra mushy way to capture how you feel about your babes while you’re still getting to know them. If you have any inclination at all, I say you try, you might amaze yourself at what you come up with! 🙂
To get started:
1) INSPO- You need to find a quite time when you can let your thoughts wander (the opposite of yoga and mediation, LOL)
2) PERSONALITY- Think of recurring phrases that come to your heart and mind when you’re with your babe, things that are unique to them!
3) FREE-FLOW- I am clearly not following any type of prose or calculated poem format but I was trying to rhyme here and there at the end of some sentences.
4) SO MANY POSSIBILITIES- Depending on what letter you have to work with, you can begin with an adjective or verb and still end in the same place. For example: with the E letter, if I had an O, I would have said ‘Our home is filled with ear to ear giggles’, now having giggles ending the sentence, I would try to end a sentence with wiggles, such as with the following sentence “natural athlete that climbs and wiggles.
5) JUST BEGIN- I think the hardest part is the first sentence, then you’ll see that writing begets writing and remember don’t ever have to show it to anyone! But if you do, it will be so meaningful to the subject.
