If you keep seeing this coat and wondering if it’s worth the hype, here’s my honest review of Amazon’s Bestselling Coat by Orolay! This beautiful down puffer has gone viral on everywhere from Instagram, Tiktok and YouTube. It’s been on the #1 spot on Amazon in the Coats category for 4 years! So what’s all the hype about? As a self proclaimed coat expert, I had to get my hands on one to see what the big deal was all about. Here’s what I found:
Versatility of Style
The Amazon Coat is a length that I really love; mid-size! It’s versatile and can be styled in endless ways with it’s quilted details. From casual with jeans, with work outfits and even with fun, edgy looks as well. I choose the red color, out of 9 different varieties that are just as striking; yellow, green, black, 2 camo varieties, gray, navy and biege. and red of course! The faux fur lined hood is optional and I chose it because I think it adds a touch of glam and texture.
Warmth Level
The warmth level is extraordinary! The mid-size length really helps in a way cropped puffers don’t and yet it’s not too long to be stuffy. Made with real down, the coat truly withstand the harshest New York winters that I’ve grown to expect in January. I would call the weight mid-level because it does have body to it and not a lightweight coat yet it doesn’t feel stuffy and overwhelming to wear. I would size up one size to get the oversized voluminous silhoutte that has held strong.
Features and Storage
One of my favorite features is that there are 6 strategically placed large pockets that look are beautifully integrated within the quilted cut. This saves me from sometimes needing a purse when I’m going for errands or a walk outside but still want sunglasses, wallet, sunscreen/lipstick,etc.! I also love the side zippers that immediately give you more room when you need to really layer underneath and need a little give. It looks edgy and so functional!
Optional Faux Fur Lined Hoodie
The faux fur trim is a feature that I didn’t think twice about because I love the more glamorous look but you can’t take it off. Both the hoodie and trim are permanent fixtures. My one tiny request would be that the faux fur trim be a bit more luxurious feeling. It’s not cheap but not 100% consistent with the quality of the rest of the coat. I didn’t feel the need to send back but if you’re a stickler about your fur consisitency, it’s a 6 out of 10. Maybe an 8 out of 10 for faux fur though!
Conclusion: Is this Bestselling Amazon Coat Worth the Hype?
If you’re looking for a quality, affordable and chic coat that is functional and will stand the test of time, it delivers! Real down, a cut that understands women’s bodies, and versatility is all there. For $179 ( and sometimes on sale for $149), it’s a coat that won’t break the bank but looks like it may have. So try it, stay warm this winter and with Amazon’s amazing return policy you have nothing to lose if you don’t LOVE It.
