Summer Trends for 2020

Summer is a great time to try new trends. While you can count on the classic sun dresses, white pieces, and denim to make an appearance, here are some summer trends for 2020 that aren’t going anywhere! For updated Spring Summer 2021 Trends video, see here!

Square Toe Shoes

I first spotted this trend at Paris Fashion week 2020 at several shows. It felt refreshing after so much pointy and round toe for that past few seasons. Here’s a few of my picks. I got the Mango sandals and the Alice & Olivia slip-ons! I love the structured look it gives your outfit. Also have my eyes on these fun orange slides!

Slip Dresses

Slip dresses are always in style. However, I feel that in the summer of 2020 and being in loungewear for 3 months, these are now just part of our staples. Comfortable enough for a midsummer day’s nap or a beach play date, these are great investments.

Two Piece Sets

Two piece sets are a key item in summer trends for 2020! The set allows us to get lots of looks our of it and anchors a capsule wardrobe. You can wear the bottom with a tee or sweatshirt for totally different look. Likewise, you can wear the top with jeans or joggers. My two piece sets are both from Praia by Dayanara Duran, female founded and effortlessly chic and feminine. I love all my pieces by them in any season. They specialize in resortwear but their maxi skirts are multi-seasonal!

See Through Puffed Sleeves

Wow, does the puffed sleeve have holding power! To switch things up a bit for summer trends 2020, the puff is no translucent. Love it! My top below I got last summer in Tokyo and didn’t see much of the look until this Spring. It’s really pretty and gives it a princess type feel. While this particular top is not available, these are very similar! I love this trend so much, I might get another one.

Neon & Tie Dye

Tie Dye is to 2020 what leopard print has been for 2019! While tie dye was around in Spring 2019, it doesn’t compare to this year. Wow. I didn’t realize they made tie dye band-aids. 🙂 I’m lumping NEON in here too because colors are alive in well in Summer Style 2020! Here’s some of my favorite items of each.

Crochet Anything!

I remember having some beautiful crochetted pieces as a little girl. Hair bun wraps, dresses, leg warmers and then never wore it again. One of my first inspirations this year was getting initiated to Accrochets, a black owned, female founded fashion line in Kenya. While the shipping fee is rough, I cannot wait to get these hand stitched, custom pieces by Agie! Will update here when I get them. 🙂 Here are some other pieces you can easily find as well:
