Every time that I go to Target I’m impressed at how fashion forward they have become and the quality is relatively good! I always judge the quality on what will happen after I wash it! A lot of times, fast fashion doesn’t survive and it becomes really discouraging to even bother because it feels too wasteful. I have found that Universal Thread, WhoWhatWear and Mossimo brands from there hold up really well. I can get my uber trend fix without a huge monetary commitment and they hold up so that at the very least you can give them away and not feel bad about the quality. So here are my four looks, 2 of which I sported at NYFW!
Look One:
The leading player here is the plaid skirt! It is made of the softest flannel material, that feels a lot more expensive than it was. It fits really well and is long enough to wear even if you’re not a mini-skirt type of girl, like me! I can’t wait to wear it with black tights later this Fall! I love how the plaid has so many options that you can pair it with any color jacket really and have fun by sporting a red bag or even red booties! I decided to go really neutral with the jacket and choose a camel one. I also paired it with my new favorite shoes by Steve Madden! About a month ago, Chloe came out with these beautiful boots that reminded me of last year’s strappy Balenciagas but they are really steep in price and whenever I’ve invested in shoes I don’t usually feel it pays off. Unlike bags, it’s really difficult to resell shoes on Poshmark, etc. Then, the following season, you’re over it and you’re left with an old pair of shoes! Ha! Anyway, they are all linked here:
Look 2: Another skirt! When I first saw this skirt I thought it was a little too much, so I got it! 🙂 I love animal print and have never had a full length skirt of it, so thought for under $30, why not? I wasn’t sure if I was going to wear it but ended up taking it to NYC for fashion week and thought it’s now or never! I think it would look great with some sneaks and a tee or a nice sweatshirt! I’m gonna try styling it other ways, but for now, I highly recommend you grab this skirt before it sells out! I loved the asymmetrical hemline and the tones of the skirt are quite subtle so it ended up feeling like I was wearing a neutral more than anything which is why I paired it with a pop of red. The shirt is a bit crazy and not from Target but a little local boutique that we found in Soho and I can’t link it! 🙁 I’m wearing patent leather brown ombre pumps that felt destined for the skirt. To round out the look, I choose the most classic bag I had with me to add a little uptown chic to my downtown vibes.
Look 3: Top & jeans are from Target and the shoes are not but equally affordable! Who doesn’t love stripes? The other thing that drew me to this top was the ruffle accent on top and the wrinkle-resistant material which I LOVE! I love the western vibes and I wasn’t sure where they were coming from until I went to Fashion Week and saw western influences all over the place. Cowgirls are cool now y’all! They always were but even if you’re not looking for the western touches, they’ll continue to be out there this season! The jeans are a bit unexpected with this look because they are sportier and not full of holes and distress but I loved how it kind of matched the vertical stripes from the shirt. Soccer boys not included. 🙂
Look 4: This dress is so fun! It’s everything that I love; a little drama, classic touches, and functional! Herringbone is one of my favorite prints and always gives me Fall nostalgia from all the Falls before. It is a print that can go either way; town or country. This print can look really professional and buttoned up while giving a nod to trend OR it can make a country look pulled together and polished. I basically ran to it and grabbed it without trying it on! I did’t mean to wear jeans with it but while were walking around during New York Fashion Week, we got a cold front of rain and I had to run back and put pants on! I think I loved the look more with the jeans. I love a good baker boy hat for finishing touches or bad hair days and it’s pretty easy to find a good one at a decent price. I think with the Herringbone it gives it a more English look, but you can always use the hat to give you more of a moto look with jeans and leather jacket. It’s so versatile! If you’ve seen my Instagram, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve been sporting this two-tone tote from Harrod’s! Well, this was a lucky find in London, but you can get it online! Harrod’s is a classic, high end department store, but somehow this logo tote was very inexpensive and it holds EVERYTHING….and I got it soaked in the rain and nothing happened to it. Hurray for Harrod’s! XO, Z
